In an exclusive announcement, The Beat can reveal that 2023 will see the publication of two new Guardians of the Galaxy books from Marvel and Scholastic! Rocket and Groot: Little Groot, Big Feelings, written by Kiara Valdez and illustrated by Wendy Tan, is the first book from the Marvel/Scholastic team-up for the youngest age group (4 to 6).
Meanwhile, Rocket and Groot: The Hunt for Star-Lord, written by Amanda Deibert and illustrated by Cam Kendell, is the next installment from Graphix Chapters, and is intended for readers ages 6 to 8.
Rocket and Groot in ’23
In Little Groot, Big Feelings, the adorable eponymous plant alien “learns to get in touch with his feelings and expresses himself through his fan-favorite catchphrase, ‘I am Groot,’ as he explores social-emotional issues perfect for young readers.” This title is scheduled for publication on August 1st, 2023.
And scheduled for publication on September 5th, 2023, The Hunt for Star-Lord will see Rocket and Groot taking on some high-stakes adventure. Here’s the description from the publisher:
“In The Hunt for Star-Lord, Rocket and Groot are searching for the best deep-dish pizza in the universe when they learn Peter Quill has been kidnapped and is being held for ransom! What are best intergalactic friends for if not tracking down unruly pals, possibly running into giant purple bad guys in the process?”
Just in time for Guardians season
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special was recently released on Disney+. If that doesn’t have young readers already chomping at the bit for some new Guardians reading material, the upcoming May 2023 release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 certainly will!
