Everyone has probably had this fear before: that there is life out here and one day those aliens will come beaming down and abduct them. Writer and illustrator Adam Szym has similarly decided to shine a light on that fear in his graphic novel debut Little Visitor & Other Abductions, published by Oni Press.

This graphic novel collects Szym’s Ignatz and Bram Stoker Award-nominated graphic novella A Cordial Invitation and two new stories about humans encountering extraterrestrial beings. Little Visitor & Other Abductions releases in August 2025.

The story of Little Visitor & Other Abductions follows a lonely girl who, in her search for her father, finds something much more strange and much more terrifying. The synopsis is as follows:

The cast and crew of an obscure film recount a tragedy that occurred during its doomed production. A young girl searches for her father in the darkness of the desert and stumbles upon an otherworldly cocktail party. Two strangers nurture violent thoughts in a bitter, lonely child as his village’s harvest festival nears. Connecting these three stories is one horrific theme…

“The fear of us or our loved ones being taken and absorbed into something we don’t understand, supernatural or not, lingers in the peripheral vision of many,” Szym said in a statement. “I’m excited to share this collection of stories that taps into childhood fears of mine and anxieties that still permeate our society today.”

Little Visitor & Other Abductions will be out on bookshelves sometime in August 2025.
