hilda_hidden_people_cover.jpgOver the years we’ve swooned with joy over the awesomeness of the Hilda books by Luke Pearson. Pearson’s art style mixes the cute, the magical and the terrifying in a series of books that follow young girl Hilda’s journey as she encouter trolls, elves and other folk in a remote northern setting.

Evidently we weren’t alone in our admiration, as Hilda has been adapted for an animated show set to debut on Netflix later this year.  Ther series stars Bella Ramsey (Lyanna Mormont in Games of Thrones) as the voice of Hilda and is produced by Silvergate Media (Octonauts) in collaboration with Mercury Filmworks, a pedigree which augeurs well for the series looking good.

While the original Hilda books are still available, Flying Eye Books, the kids division of Nobrow, is releasing a series of chapter books based on the series. The first one, Hilda and the Hidden People comes out in September. It’s written by Stephen Davies, with art by Seaerra Miller.

The Hilda books are already beloved favorites of many kids; the Netflex series and these chapter books are likely to get her even more fans.

And here’s an exclusive first look at the cover and first few pages of the series.
