Since premiering last month, Nickelodeon’s new puppet comedy series The Barbarian and the Troll has been a ratings hit posting double-digit year-over-year gains with Kids 2-11 (1.4/271K, +17%) and was the number-two telecast for the week with Kids 6-11 (1.3/153K, +30%). The Beat is proud to preview an exclusive clip from this Friday’s new episode.

As viewers will recall, Evan the peppy troll renounced his life as a troll bridge in pursuit of his musical dreams after literally burning his bridge. Naturally, Evan’s father the Troll King didn’t take too kindly to it so you can imagine the awkward family reunion when Evan has to see his parents again. He’ll have to “troll up” if he wants to help his friends continue their quest.

Before that, however, Evan encounters an old friend (Doug from health class) who informs him that Evan is unsurprisingly persona non grata to all trolls in the land of Gothmoria.

Watch an exclusive preview clip from the episode “Parents Just Don’t Understand” below and be sure to tune in Friday, May 7, at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT) when the episode airs.

If you missed the first episode, never fear for Nickelodeon has released the first episode for free on its YouTube channel that you can watch right here.

Evan is forced to return to his parents’ house to secure Trolls Passage on the group’s journey, but it won’t be easy since he already burned that bridge.

From co-creators and executive producers Mike Mitchell and Drew Massey, The Barbarian and the Troll follows Evan (Drew Massey), a bridge troll in search of adventure, and Brendar (Spencer Grammer), a fierce female warrior on a quest to defeat the evil demon who has imprisoned her brother.

Joining Massey as puppeteers and voice talent are Colleen Smith, Allan Trautman, Sarah Sarang Oh, Nicolette Santino, Peggy Etra, James Murray and Jeny Cassady.  The series also features the voice of comedian Gina Yashere.
