On May 26th, 2021, The Down River People will be available at your local comic shop, but you can get an exclusive look at the new graphic novel from Adam Smith and Matt Fox, with letters by Mike Fiorentino.

Smith and Fox were the creative team behind the Harvey and Eisner Award-nominated graphic novel Long Walk to Valhalla.

In The Down River People, a bootlegger named Myers Carpenter has inherieted The Flatbed, his family’s bar. However, if he’s going to keep the speakeasy, he’s going to need to find a new supplier of booze – and out of desperation, he turns to his estranged mother, uncovering a previously unknown half-sister in the process.

But when Myers gets entangled in his newfound family’s lives, he learns that the fishing lodge for the wealthy run by his mother may be more than meets the eye…

The Down River People will be published by the Archaia Imprint from BOOM! Studios. Although the graphic novel was originally scheduled for release in July 2020, it will finally be floating your way in May of this year. Unsure of whether or not he wants to keep the famous speakeasy, Myers is forced to find a new booze supplier when he burns his bridges at his longtime source in Mississippi. The only option he can turn to is his estranged mother, now running a fishing lodge for the wealthy, and a half sister he knew nothing about.

As Myers becomes more entangled in the lives of his newfound family, he begins to learn the secrets of the fishing lodge and the sinister cult thriving just under the surface of wealth and opulence.
