Black Hammer Visions, the eight-issue anthology miniseries set within the world of Jeff Lemire and Dean Ormston‘s award-winning series, reached its midpoint this week. The series features big-name creators telling stories with new and existing characters from the Black Hammer universe. Black Hammer Visions is being collected in two four-issue hardcover collections, with the first volume due out in September. Today Dark Horse has revealed, exclusively to The Beat, the cover for the second hardcover collection of the series by legendary artist Jerry Ordway.

Jerry Ordway Black Hammer Visions Volume 2Ordway’s cover for the second collection of the series, which will include issues #5-8 of the miniseries, features, from left to right, The Horseless Rider, Ms. Moonbeam, Cthu-Lou, and Skulldigger. While Skulldigger has starred in his own six-issue miniseries previously, Black Hammer Visions will be the first time the other three characters have received a solo spotlight (though Cthu-Lou’s daughter, Cthu-Louise, has previously been the star of her own one-shot).

Black Hammer Visions #5 and 6 have been solicited already with stories by Kelly Thompson and Leonardo Romero (Skulldigger) and Cullen Bunn, Malachi Ward, and Matthew Sheean (Cthu-Lou). The collection cover lays out the creators for the final two issues of the series, with Cecil Castellucci and Melissa Duffy working on the Ms. Moonbeam story, while Scott Snyder and David Rubín helm the Horseless Rider issue, a story Rubín teased on Twitter earlier this year.

The cover for the new Black Hammer collection is the latest Dark Horse work for Jerry Ordway. The iconic artist also recently contributed pages to the first Norse Mythology miniseries written by P. Craig Russell, adapting Neil Gaiman‘s story collection of the same name.

Black Hammer Visions Volume 2 is available for pre-order now, with a scheduled release date of February 1st, 2022.
