If you didn’t think women in comics were having a big enough moment to begin with, the delightfully ambitious folks over at Kazoo are coming through in a big way for you. From the creators of the award-winning Kazoo Magazine and Knopf Books for Young Readers comes a perfectly-timed, positive, and righteously fun graphic novel, Noisemakers: 25 Women Who Raised Their Voices & Changed the World; an anthology showcasing the lives of 25 women whose accomplishments left their mark on history forever due out February 4th, 2020.
Noisemakers will mark the first ever book from Kazoo — the quarterly, indie print magazine aimed towards girls ages 5-12. But don’t let the age range fool you! Some of the most dynamic and acclaimed contemporary cartoonists (including Emil Ferris, Alitha E. Martinez, Rosemary Valero-O’Connel’, Lucy Knisley, and many more!) are the people making these stories happen, so feel to enjoy yourself no matter what age you may be.
“What sets Kazoo apart is that we celebrate girls for being smart, strong, fierce and true to themselves, and everything we do supports that mission,” said Editor-in-Chief and founder Erin Bried in a comment. “Plus, it’s just really fun to read.”
If this isn’t enough to entice you, below you can find a full list of creators contributing to this incredible anthology and — bonus! — a self portrait of each one! (Don’t worry, though. If you can wait until February 4th, these are included in the book, too!)
