Who’s excited about comics making a comeback? Dynamite sure is. The publisher has adjusted its July 1 release schedule to give a slow week a much-needed boost. Five of their bestselling and acclaimed titles will debut the same week:

  • The Boys: Dear Becky #2
  • Vampirella #10
  • Vengeance of Vampirella #8
  • Red Sonja #16
  • Killing Red Sonja #2

Dynamite“Our number one focus at Dynamite since the beginning of the pandemic has been making sure that the return of our titles to stores and to fans is executed as perfectly as we can,” said Nick Barrucci, Dynamite CEO and Publisher. “Not only for the strength of us as a publisher, but more so to make sure that our retailer friends come back strong and fans get excited. We usually do not release two titles featuring the same characters in the same week, such as Vampirella and Red Sonja, but when we saw that July 1st was going to have limited best-selling releases, we wanted to ensure that retailers had our strongest selection of books to sell. We also believe that for retailers this could be the perfect opportunity to have promotions to sell back issues to your fans leading up to the holiday on July 4. We know retailers are going to have a tough week, and we want them to do as well as possible planning in advance. These titles are also available for immediate re-orders to help capitalize.”

DynamiteDear Becky #2 continues the sequel to The Boys, with co-creators Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson returning as well as series artist Russell Braun. Tony Avina and Simon Bowland are on colors and letters respectively.

For Christopher Priest’s Vampirella series, the saga hits a climax as Vampi plummets to her lowest point. Ergun Gunduz continues on interiors and offers a cover. Lucio Parrillo, Guillem March, Fay Dalton, and Meghan Hetrick also have cover entries. In addition, Vampirella fans have Vengeance of Vampirella to sink their teeth into. Writer Tom Sniegoski continues the series that picks up where he left off in the ‘90s.

DynamiteMark Russell continues his run on Red Sonja and joins co-writer Bryce Ingman and artist Craig Rousseau on Killing Red Sonja, which centers on Dragan the Magnificent’s surviving son Prince Cyril’s vengeance quest against the She-Devil with a Sword.
