Via Bloody Disgusting, Six Studios has released an age-restricted trailer for Crossed, the horror film based on Garth Ennis and Jacen Burrows‘s comic of the same name. Directed by Rob Jabbaz (The Sadness) from a script by Ennis himself, the film follows a group of survivors fleeing north from a virus that turns people into monsters known as the Crossed, all marked by the eponymous infection across their faces.
The film stars Devin Druid (13 Reasons Why) and Ash Santos (American Horror Story) as Stan and Cindy, the leaders of the group, as well as Owen Harn (Cobra Kai) as main villain Horsecock. The cast also includes Ethan Jones Romero (Law & Order), Kyla Hee (Psychosis), Chido Nwokocha (Top Gun: Maverick), Spenser Granese (Dope Thief), Bob Morley (The 100), Ana Mulvoy Ten (American Crime), Steven Hack (Little Death), Fedor Steer (The Haunting of Hill House), Kelvin Adekunle (City of Love), Angie Campbell (The Lincoln Lawyer), Peter Falls (Nash Bridges), and newcomer Lorenzo Ross.
Crossed debuted from Avatar Press in 2008, and received multiple continuations and spin-offs over the next decade. These included Crossed + One Hundred, a 2014-17 series originally written by Alan Moore, that explored what became of its post-apocalyptic world a century later. Jabbaz’s first film, the 2021 Taiwanese horror release The Sadness, similarly explored the concept of a virus turning people into homicidal maniacs instead of zombies.
The movie marks the first feature written directly by Ennis, although he previously penned the 2020 Boys short film Butcher. Other work by the Northern Irish scribe outside comics includes The Boys: Diabolical episode “I’m Your Pusher” (2022), and the video games The Punisher (2005) and Ghost Rider (2007).
The Crossed movie does not have a distributor or release date at the time of writing. In the meantime, you can check out the evocative teaser poster below:
