As announced yesterday on the annual Sonic Central stream, SEGA and Warner Bros. are teaming up for the first official DC x Sonic Comics collaboration, that will kick off with a five-issue series from DC Comics in March 2025. Penned by longtime IDW Sonic the Hedgehog comics writer Ian Flynn, the series will see Sonic and friends (aka Team Sonic) and the Justice League “unite to save their worlds from a major threat.”
While no artist or official team was announced for the upcoming comic, SEGA’s senior Vice President of Sega America Ivo Gerscovich disclosed that it will feature mash-ups of Team Sonic and DC’s greatest heroes, namely Shadow the Hedgehog as Batman; Knuckles as Superman; Amy Rose as Wonder Woman; Silver the Hedgehog as Green Lantern; Tails as Cyborg; and Sonic himself as the Flash. Shadow’s appearance as the Dark Knight had been teased a few days before the announcement, in a short video released to mark Batman Day last weekend:
The collaboration will also include apparel, toys, and collectibles in late 2025, although these will be revealed at a later date. For now, the DC x Sonic Comics run will go monthly from March to July 2025, a few months after Shadow makes his debut on the big screen (voiced by Keanu Reeves, who’s no stranger to Batman himself either) in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, due out in theaters December 20, 2024.
