Bromances abound throughout the DC Universe in comics and beyond, from Cyborg and Beast Boy to Hawkman and The Atom. However, without a doubt those all pale in comparison to the duo of Ted Kord a.k.a. Blue Beetle and Michael Jon Carter a.k.. Booster Gold . The Blue & Gold pairing was first introduced in acclaimed Justice League International run in the ’80s by writers Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis and the two have remained the best of pals ever since.

Blue & GoldAfter Blue Beetle’s death at the hands of Maxwell Lord during the Countdown to Infinite Crisis, Kord was finally brought back to the land of the living after the various DC Comics continuity shakeups. The 2018 Heroes in Crisis miniseries gave us a brief Blue & Gold reunion, but fans have been clamoring for more Blue and Gold.

The wait is finally over, for today DC Comics announced a Blue & Gold 8-issue limited series from writer Dan Jurgens, the creator of Booster Gold, and artist Ryan Sook, who comes off drawing the Legion of Superheroes with writer Brian Michael Bendis.

Here’s how DC describes the series:

Desperate to regain the spotlight, Booster Gold looks to attract the public’s (and Justice League’s) attention the same way any washed-up, second-rate hero would—social media. The not-so-tech-savvy hero from the 25th century enlists the help of his best friend, Blue Beetle, who possesses both the money and the brains to help his old pal navigate the scary world of internet influencers.

Check out more info on the series, as well as the main Blue & Gold#1 cover by Sook as well as the card stock variant cover by Dave Johnson, below. Look for Blue & Gold #1 to arrive in comic shops on Tuesday, July 20.
