Breaking into the Japanese anime industry is no easy feat, but twin brothers Arthell and Darnell Isom have broken new ground as the first Black owners of a 2-D anime studio in Japan called D’ART Shtajio! They will be speaking with Steve Harvey in this week’s episode of STEVE on Watch, Harvey’s new talk show on Facebook Watch.

Based in Tokyo, D’ART Shtajio “bridges the gap between Eastern and Western ideologies to create a truly unique and vibrant animation,” all while using traditional anime art styles. Notable projects from this studio include Sturgill Simpson Presents Sound & Fury and music videos for The Weeknd’s “Snowchild” and Spiff TV’s “Thinkin”. The studio also has animation cleanup credits for Castlevania Season 3, and key animation credits for episodes of Attack on TitanOne Piece, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind.

In the exclusive clip below, Arthell Isom talks to Harvey about anime’s popularity across the world and shining a light on diverse voices.
