In case you hadn’t heard, Walt Disney Pictures held its bi-annual D23 expo this past weekend, and of course, some of the biggest excitement for its Saturday morning motion pictures panel was the chance to see more footage from J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which hits theaters this Christmas and has been suitably wrapped in secrecy.

While Disney and Lucasfilm didn’t roll out an actual trailer per se, at least nothing that we might see in theaters, it did show a 2+ minute sizzle reel to the gathered masses that was half clips from the previous eight movies (not including Rogue One or Solo) and then including new footage from the upcoming film.

The latest Star Wars footage focuses heavily on the final battle between Daisy Ridley‘s Rey and Adam Driver‘s Kylo Ren, and then a shot of Rey wielding a double-bladed light saber that seems to be very Sith-like since Kylo Ren and the late Darth Maul each wield one such saber. The teaser also ends with Darth Vader’s unmistakable wheeze and a few words from Emperor Palpatine.

It also sounds very dark, and I guess we can expect things not to end well for our beloved Rey. (Unless you have a dark streak, and then… yay?)

The Rise of Skywalker also got a new poster over the weekend, which you can check out here.

You can watch that “Special Look” teaser below:
