Fans hoping to get a new trailer for Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker at D23 were disappointed, but Disney did release a poster for the upcoming installment of Star Wars, along with a few pieces of footage and hints about character arcs in the upcoming film.
The poster depicts Rey and Kylo Ren fighting while Emperor Palpatine looms over them in the background. At the Expo panel, Rey was also shown wearing a dark black, hooded robe and wielding a dual-sided lightsaber a la Darth Maul:
Keri Russell was also on hand to describe her character in the upcoming film, whom she described as an old friend of Oscar Isaac‘s Poe Dameron. The Rise of Skywalker opens Dec. 20 and will conclude Disney’s newest Star Wars trilogy.
