On Monday, Polish game studio CD Projekt Red released the second teaser for Studio Trigger’s follow up to the critically acclaimed 2022 anime, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
For the last week, CD Projekt Red has been slowly revealing the main cast for the standalone, 10-episode story from the world of Cyberpunk 2077. This culminated in the release of the second teaser for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, which garnered over 6 million views in just a few hours.
Watch the trailer below.
The teaser sets a bleak tone, showing glimpses of each of the four main characters’ lives in Night City. The teaser also contains shots animated to resemble documentary-like footage, with several scenes framed through a handheld camera capturing the raw, bloody, and violent life of the city. The teaser then shifts to a montage of fast-paced, action-heavy scenes set to the original song “You Can’t Run From Me,” written by Maria Kelly and Drew Polovik and performed by Rico Nasty.
The main cast of characters in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 are revealed as follows:
- Roman Carax: A young Media who seeks to document real stories in Night City. He will capture the unfiltered lives of the other characters and the world around him. A witness to every gig’s cost, and the rise and fall of legends.
- D: A netrunner and former nomad on a revenge quest to avenge his clan.
- Talia Yang: Originally a Corpo, she is a part of the feared and hyper-violent chrome obsessed gang known as “Maelstrom.”
- Weak Kingsley: Once known as “King,” He is a veteran mercenary who fell from grace and is living in the shadows of his former glory.

Cyberpunk: Edgereunners 2 marks the return of Studio Trigger; showrunner, story writer, and producer Bartosz Sztybor; director Kai Ikarashi; lead character designer Kanno Ichigo; and assistant director Masahiko Otsuka. The series follows the success of its predecessor, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, a 10-episode anime limited series set in Mike Pondsmith’s Cyberpunk Universe.
With the new cast and their backstories revealed, many fans of the Edgerunners anime already are uncertain who will survive by the end, especially given what has happened to David Martinez and his crew of Edgerunners in the original series.
This is Night City after all, and the world of Cyberpunk 2077 has always been one that thrives on its cruelty and violence. The trailer has shots of Kingsley suffering from cyberpsychosis, Talia’s affiliation with Maelstrom, D’s netrunning skills possibly involving the blackwall, and Roman capturing gritty footage to be used in a Braindance. Best not to get too attached to these characters.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is slated for release in fall 2026 on Netflix.
