Goal: $1,000

A book collecting 100 monotone watercolored drawings of swords from museums in Paris, London, Leeds, and New York.

Chris Schweizer says that his output as a cartoonist whose output is largely historical, when you take a look at his drawings it’s not hard to see why. We loved their work; the amount of effort they put into these drawings is amazing, to us it felt like we had found some ancient captain’s log with drawings from centuries past. It’s amazing and made us want more. To have all these fantastic drawings in a book for only $16, we at The Beat couldn’t get enough. Any fantasy or historical fan will want to get their hands on this book so make sure not to miss out!

End Date: October 3

My Neighbor Necromancer is a dark YA fantasy about a girl named Jessie who stumbles into the wild world of necromancy and learns how the denial and mistreatment of Death can do more harm than good

A comic based around necromancy that teaches the protagonist that mistreatment of death does more harm than good. That alone was enough to convince me to check out the campaign, then seeing Piperberg’s phenomenal art and phenomenal designs, I couldn’t help but be immersed in their world. Check out this project you won’t regret it.

Dead But Still Breathing – Resurrection

Creators: R P Wheildon (Writer/Creator), David Cousens (Artist)
Goal: $4,955
End Date: October 23
Goodies: Get the digital Comic for $9, the DUST and ASH physical cover for $14, stickers for $14, and much more.

An action-packed Sci-Fi story of a marine brought back from the dead to track down a clone army farmed from her own DNA.

Wheildon writes that he was reared on 2000AD and Tank Girl, and when you take a look at some of the panels for Dead But Still Breathing it’s not hard to see. With one page where 90% of the page is the protagonist Maddy Shaw is riding atop a massive hoverbike where the front engine looks like a wind turbine in her post-apocalyptic gear, I can’t help but just be in awe of Cousens’s work. It looks like a tremendous amount of post-apocalyptic fun and it will hit a lot of boxes for that fanbase, make sure to check out the project so you don’t miss out!

SENTINEL #1-4

Creators: Ryan Lessard (Writer/Creator), Javi Laparra (artist/colorist), Luiz Zavala (Colorist), Adam Wollet (letterer)
Goal: $5,000
End Date: October 17
Goodies: Get the digital copy for $10, the digital bundle for $25, the physical copy for $25, or at higher tiers get the variant cover for $35, and much more.

A sci-fi adventure series featuring a journalist, an interstellar fleet crew and a mysterious child as they set out to stop a terrorist

Lessard is himself an investigative journalist, so it’s not hard to see why the protagonist of this story is an alien journalist. That being said following the plot of the story and seeing the amount of work put into it, it has truly been nothing but fun to see the amount of depth put into these characters. How the protagonists themselves are discovering new experiences, meeting loveable members of the ship’s crew, but also unfolding secrets, and digging into the unknown. Fans of Babylon 5 and other sci-fi stories will want to check this out!

A 70-page comic that blends the mundane with the extraordinary—that line from the project immediately caught my attention, and I had to dig deeper. The art is captivating, with a cartoonish style that perfectly complements a story filled with deep meaning and fantastical adventures. I couldn’t be more excited!
