ComiXology has announced its next wave of creator-owned titles to be published this September, featuring a diverse range of titles, genres, and creators.

Writer Justin Jordan (The Strange Talent of Luther Strode), artist Tyassetta, colourist Sarah Stern, and letterer Rachel Deering will launch Breaklands on September 4. ComiXology’s description of the plot reads: “Set 150 years in the future, Breaklands features a world where everyone has powers… except for one young woman, Kasa Fain, who is desperate to find her recently kidnapped brother.”

The following week, on September 11, Field Tripping from James AsmusJim Festante, and the art team of Jose Garcia and letterer Ryan Ferrier will launch. It’s “a multiverse-spanning, all-ages story about a flighty teacher, with an interdimensional traveling school bus and her students who become stranded – jumping between bizarre worlds but never able to get back to theirs.”

September 18 will see the debut of The Black Ghost, from writers Alex Segura and Monica Gallagher, joined by the art team of George Kambadais, colourist Ellie Wright, and letterer Taylor Esposito. In The Black Ghost, “Laura Dominguez is a journalist chasing that one, big story. As she inches closer to uncovering the identity of the masked activist known as The Black Ghost, Laura will have to navigate the corruption of her adopted city and her own personal demons. Will she have the strength to be part of the solution – or will she become the problem?”

Segura and Gallagher are co-creators of the Lethal Lit podcast, a crime drama. Segura is also known for his Pete Fernandez series of novels, so fans of crime comics will definitely want to check this series out.

Rounding up the announcements is Quarter Killer by Vita Ayala and Danny Lore, with art by Jamie Jones and letterer Ryan Ferrier. “This action-packed, cyberpunk story of Quentin Kidd A.K.A. QK, an ex-corporate computer hacker who offers their services to those willing to pay them with old school currency, specifically quarters, because quarters are untraceable. QK only has two rules: they don’t work for criminals or police, and no killing.”

“We couldn’t be more thrilled with these exciting back-to-back-to-back debuts on ComiXology Originals,” said ComiXology Head of Content Chip Mosher in a statement. He continued, “Whether it’s a new take on the post-apocalyptic adventure with Breaklands, a multi-verse hopping dark comedy with Field Tripping, the rise of a new masked vigilante with The Black Ghost, or a cyberpunk mystery with Quarter Killer – our roster of incredible writers and artists, and everyone at ComiXology are thrilled to bring readers new and exciting comic series to dive into every week of September. And stay tuned as we still have more to come this year!”

That’s right — if you haven’t noticed, each of these comics are debuting a week apart from each other in September. ComiXology is really going all-out with these releases, making them readily available all in the same month. This is more of a contained, focused release than the titles ComiXology announced last year.

Amazon Prime members will be able to read these exclusive comics through Prime Reading, Kindle Unlimited, and ComiXology Unlimited, or they can just buy them through Kindle or ComiXology. All of these comics will run for five issues and will be collected in trade paperback form, and will be available exclusively through Amazon at an unconfirmed date.
