200711131017Kevin O’Neill’s US tour in support of LOEG: BLACK DOSSIER kicks off tomorrow at Hanley’s. We’ve read a copy and it’s DENSE…and delightful. It isn’t clear from this press releases whether ComicsPRO is completely sponsoring this tour, but if so, it’s an excellent idea and a significant was to kick off this kind of initiative.

Kevin O’Neill, artist of the anticipated original graphic novel LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN: The Black Dossier will do an exclusive signing tour covering nine comic specialty stores and one pop culture convention over the course of eight days from November 14 through November 21. The tour begins on the first day of release of LOEG: The Black Dossier in New York City and ends eight days later in Las Vegas, Nevada.

At each signing along the tour, artist Kevin O’Neill will be hosted by members of Comics Professional Retail Organization (ComicsPRO), the trade group representing the interests of comic book specialty retailers. Some participating stores are also holding benefits for the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF).

In addition to his work with writer Alan Moore on LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN, Kevin O’Neill is also known as the co-creator of MARSHAL LAW and NEMESIS the WARLOCK, and was among the first artists of the UK anthology 2000 AD.

“I’m looking forward to the first ComicsPRO signing tour launching LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMAN: The Black Dossier,” said O’Neill. “A book fraught with as much difficulty for us as it is for Mina and Quartermain! I believe readers will be startled by the Dossier’s contents, the dramatic shifts in character, period and geography. This has been a project unlike any I’ve ever worked on in terms of scale and ambition. I also welcome the support of the CBLDF.”

“ComicsPRO members are showing once again we are a League of Extraordinary Retailers. We’re thrilled that an artist of Mr. O’Neill’s caliber has agreed to kick off the first official exclusive ComicsPRO signing tour,” said ComicsPRO President Joe Field, owner of Flying Colors Comics in Concord CA. “I know our member-retailers are prepared to deliver a great time for everyone involved in this tour.”

  1. I’m so jazzed to be one of the stores (Alternate Reality Comics in Las Vegas) hosting the ComicsPRO tour with uber artist Kevin O’Neill to celebrate The Black Dossier! Anyone who’ll be in Las Vegas next week should stop by and lavish ego stokes upon Kevin O’Neill for his art wizardry.

And I’m so jealous that Heidi has already read Black Dossier (for me and many other rabid Alan Moore fans the anticipation for this book is on the level of what many felt upon the arrival of the last Harry Potter book)! I’ll be putting in an all-nighter tomorrow devouring this book!

  2. I’m really looking forward to getting my copy from Kevin on Thursday at Titan. Too bad Alan isn’t doing the promotional tours anymore. Though I can understand why he doesn’t, from some of the stories I’ve heard.

  3. That’s Titan Comics in Dallas that Randy’s referring to. 5-7p.m. (No, I’m not employed there, but it’s “my” comic shop.)

  4. This book is absolutely freakin’ gorgeous. It was worth kicking myself out of bed and dragging myself over to Earth 2 after suffering through a enormous hangover just to purchase two copies.

So anyway, Mr. O’ Neill was telling me that Top Shelf is releasing a omnibus of all the Marshall Law stories. Anyone got the 411 on that?
