The team at Tiny Onion is prepping for spooky season in a big way. The hot comic studio announced details for The Perfectly Monstrous Life of Adam Frankenstein one-shot, its first big spin-off from the pages of The Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos. Writer Tate Brombal is set to return to the world to pen this new take on Mary Shelley’s iconic monster, with Carmilla alumnus Soo Lee providng the art.
Patricio Delpeche and Aditya Bidikar are credited as colorist and letterer on the 48-page giant, respectively. The one-shot will feature covers drawn by It will also feature cover art by David Talaski, Filipe Andrade, and Fernando Blanco. Additionally, the issue will include an eight-page “Monsters in Love” short story by Mark Bouchard, Naomi Franq, Héctor Barros and Aditya Bidikar as a flip-book with a special cover illustration by Kendra Wells.
“Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is one of my favorite novels, so to have this opportunity to adapt her groundbreaking story with our own Christopher Chaos twist is monumental for me,” Brombal said of the series. “This is one of the most personal comics I’ve ever written and to do it alongside Soo, Patricio, Aditya, and the entire Tiny Onion crew just feels incredible. It’s tragic, surprising, and full of heart. This Frankenstein is familiar but unlike any adaptation you’ve seen before.”
In Christopher Chaos, Adam Frankenstein serves as a supporting character to the eponymous hero. He appears in a couple issues, which explore his creation by Dr. Victor Frankenstein. This new spin-off is set to expand that initial story.
In fact, The Perfectly Monstrous Life of Adam Frankenstein is actually going to get two releases this year — the oversized one-shot in August and a trade paperback in December, which collects the one-shot and The Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos #7 and #8.
The former will retail for $7.99 and see release at comic stores on August 26th while the latter will cost $24.99 and hit comic and book stores simultaneously on December 15.
