The Folio Society — a London-based publisher known for high-end, beautifully-designed illustrated hardcover editions of classic literature — has unveiled its latest comics project — DC: Batman

As its foundation, the book will compile 12 classic Batman comics from throughout the character’s 85-year-long publication history. These, of course, are comics by famed Batman creators, including Bill Finger, Bob Kane, Jerry Robinson, Denny O’Neil, Neal Adams, Marshall Rogers, Frank Miller, David Mazzucchelli, Alan Moore, Brian Bolland, Kelley Jones, and more. The stories were selected — and introduced — by former DC Comics president, publisher and editor-in-chief, Jennette Kahn.

Here’s a good luck at the beauty…

DC: Batman

The book spans 320 pages and also comes with a stand alone replica comic of Batman #1, scanned in its entirety from an original 1940 copy. That comic, of course, introduces both The Joker and The Cat, who obviously would go on to be Catwoman. And if that’s not enough, this bad boy will even include the original back-up strips and vintage ads, if you’re into that sort of thing (which I am!).

The book is out as of February 20, retailing for $100, exclusively via The Folio Society

Below, you can find a full list of the included comics, as well as some photos of the book and its design, which is probably why you clicked on this post to begin with …. enjoy!
