In an announcement made on Wednesday, February 14th, 2024, Paramount+ shared the scheduled release date for Star Trek: Discovery’s fifth and final season premiere. In addition, the studio unveiled a new poster for the show’s final outing, which you can see below this article.

Star Trek: Discovery’s Final Voyage

Two episodes of Disco’s ultimate season will begin streaming on Paramount+ on Thursday, April 4th, 2024. This is just one day before First Contact Day 2024, the Trekkie holiday that anticipates First Contact with the Vulcans on April 5th, 2063. Why the fourth instead of the fifth? This explanation is simple: for several years, new Star Trek episodes have been released for streaming on Paramount+ at midnight on Thursdays.

For Disco, it’s been a long road, getting from there to the fifth season. We got our first look at Discovery season 5 back in October 2022, during the “Star Trek Universe” panel at New York Comic Con 2022. This panel introduced several new cast members for season 5, including Captain Reynar (Callum Keith Rennie), plus aliens L’ak (Elias Toufexis) and Moll (Eve Harlow).

The fifth season will feature returning cast members Adira Tal (Blu del Barrio), Sylvia Tilly (Mary Wiseman), Doctor Hugh Culber (Wilson Cruz), Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), Cleveland “Book” Booker (David Ajala), Saru (Doug Jones) and Paul Stamets (Anthony Rapp).

While Discovery may be concluding, its legacy lives on. For one thing, direct spin-off Star Trek: Strange New Worlds continues to enjoy immense popularity. And it’s possible the previously announced Star Trek: Starfleet Academy series will directly spin-out of Disco, as well.
