2010 Webcomic List Award Winners

0
The winners of the 2010 Webcomics List Award have been announced -- fittingly -- in a webcomic. Winners were chosen by a panel of judges: Although there is not a text list of winners, Brigid Alverson at Robot 6 made a print list:

Kate Beaton goes to D&Q

0
The big news of the day: D&Q has picked up Kate Beaton and will publish her next collection, HARK! A VAGRANT. Beaton's current print outlet is the Topatoco edition of Never Learn Anything from History, which, every time we've seen Beaton at a show -- is sold out. Grrrrrr. It isn't clear from the PR if this is a new edition of that material or all new but the word "next" suggests the latter.

Nice art: Victor Kerlow

0
The art of Victor Kerlow has been featured in The New Yorker, the NY Times, and many other outlets. His website contains not only his lovely illos but many of his comics, which are also collected in Small Victories, a volume he was kind enough to send us a review copy of. While the art is immediately stunning, stories of danger in toilets, lumberjack exploits and other mysteries makes for a fine assemblage of comics.

Very knowledgeable webcomics folk Xaviar Xerexes, Brigid Alverson, Larry Cruz, Lauren Davis, Brian Heater, Rick Marshall, Gary Tyrrell and, inexplicably, The Beat gather together to look at the present and future of the digital comics medium.  Pairs well with Comics Alliance's Digital December in which they talk to comics publisher digital czars for a nice state of the union.

Nice Art: Hard Apple concept art
