How many conventions can one comics-crazy town hold? We're about to find out as the dates for KING CON in Brooklyn have just been announced: November 4-7 at the Brooklyn Lyceum. That's three weeks after the New York Comic-Con, and four weeks before the next Brooklyn Comics Arts Festival. And the show is expanding to four days from two this year. X-MEn writer Chris Claremont has just been announced as the Guest of Honor.

Wow, New York is getting even crappier. News had been floating around for a bit, but a trip to their website confirmed that Giant Robot NY is closing next week. An offshoot of Giant Robot stores in LA and San Francisco, the East Village shop served as a gallery space for artists and cartoonists, as well as a place to snag books, toys, and wondrous gizmos. It was also the herald of the wave of Asian cultural influence that swept over the US in the last decade.

Family Bookstore is pleased to host the launch of two new books from Fantagraphics Books: Billy Hazelnuts and the Crazy Bird Tony Millionaire

The Adam Baumgold Gallery is showing the iconic artist's work -- the entire exhibit is in the link, and it will probably make you cry.

The Lucky in Love cartoonist/animator gets a well deserved art show plus book signing.

The West Hollywood Book Fair takes place Sunday, September 26th, and as in past years will have an extensive Comics and Graphic Novels Pavilion and a full slate of programming, on topics including webcomics, YA and a spotlight on MOUSE GUARD's David Petersen, all of which you can see below:
