Kickstarter is a topic that tends to get people worked up, both on the pro and con sides. Call it what you want, Top Cow just pulled in six figures to relaunch...
More Invincible #100 death teasers
As previously reported, for its 100th issue, Robert Kirkman's superhero saga INVINCIBLE is following in the "issue 100 = a heartbreaking death" comics tradition, by teasing said heartbreaking death. And here are the teasers that have run since Monday, each featuring a different set of blood-spattered remains strewn around the rubble.
INTERVIEW: Brian K. Vaughan on the first SAGA collection
In the annals of "very safe predictions" the idea that the first collection of SAGA
is going to sell very well is right up there. The book—collecting the first six issues of the science fiction drama by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples—isn't out until October 23rd, but it's certain to get a whole new audience for the book. Not that it's been lacking an audience: the first issue already has already sold over 70,000 copies in various printings. And a low $9.99 price tag makes the barrier to entry pretty low.
Robert Kirkman Promises Death, Sweet Death
Image have released a teaser image for issue #100 of Invincible, Robert Kirkman's other long-running series, promising things are all going to end nicely... NOT REALLY! Somebody's going to DIE
Valentine is coming from Image
Another digital to print success story—Alex De Campi and Christine Larsen's VALENTINE, which made headlines as a digital only comic that was translated into multiple languages. As noted below it was a true digital pioneer, with more than 350,000 downloads.
And now...you can hold it in your hand.
Tezuka-esque CIRCUIT BREAKER by McCarthy and Baker is coming from Image Comics
We've alluded to this a few times, but Kyle Baker has posted some art from a new Image book by himself and Kevin McCarthy called CIRCUIT BREAKER, which is:
When Kevin sent me his story about a little girl robot in futuristic Tokyo, I thought it would be funny to draw it in the style of my favorite Japanese cartoonist, Osamu Tezuka!
The Walking Dead #97-99 get second printing with landscape cover
After WALKING DEAD #100 became the best selling comic in 15 years, folks wanted to go back and read the first three parts of the storyline, in WALKING DEAD #97-99. Thus a second printing has been necessitated. The new printing will have new covers, by Charlie Adlard, depicting the villain Negan and his now-infamous baseball bat, Lucille.
The Cyber Force Kickstarter Finally Launches
It looks like Top Cow turned their Cyber Force Kickstarter campaign on the evening of the 17th. I discussed the campaign during Comicon, but the short version is that Top Cow is trying to raise $75K and distribute free copies of the first five issues/first story arc of a new ongoing Cyber Force comic in a manner similar to Free Comic Book Day. It's an interesting idea.
