Star Wars fans who tuned in at midnight pacific time had a shocking surprise gifted to them after an amazing The Mandalorian finale episode. In an episode packed with plot twists and surprise guest stars, those smart enough to stick around after the credits were gifted with a scene with Temuera Morrison‘s Boba Fett and Ming-Na Wen‘s Fennec Shand, ending with the announcement of The Book of Boba Fett!

WARNING! There will be spoilers for all of The Mandalorian Season Two ahead!

This comes after Disney announced a whole slate of new shows in the Star Wars universe last week during Investor Day. Beneath the title announcement is the proclamation that the show will come December 2021! So what does that mean for the Mando we already know? Well, after that finale it certainly feels like we’ve closed the chapter on Din Djarin and his story with Grogu.

It seems unlikely that a whole separate show will come of Boba Fett since the show is called The Mandalorian and Boba Fett does wear a Mandalorian suit. The timeline also would suggest that the creators Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are moving on to Boba in this next installment of the show rather than having two Mandalorian-based shows at once. This doesn’t mean that we won’t ever seen Din Djarin again. He now holds the dark saber and that feels like a plot point that still needs to be explored.

Still, the stinger sets Boba up nicely after he’s killed the crime lord Bib Fortuna who has found himself cornered by the bounty hunter in Jabba the Hutt’s palace. The final shot we see is of Boba lounging on the throne with Fennec behind him taking a swig of a blue drink.

This news comes just a day after the death of Jeremy Bulloch, who played Boba Fett in Empire Strikes Back.

So what is instore for Boba and Fennec in Season Three? That is all up in the air, but presumably, it’ll have something to do with Jabba’s crime empire and avoiding a certain Sarlacc Pit.
