Blacksad fans, are you ready for this? Dark Horse has announced that the Eisner- and Harvey Award-winning Blacksad: They All Fall Down will return in November with a hardcover release of Part 2, and The Beat can exclusively reveal the details.

Written by Juan Díaz Canales, illustrated by Juanjo Guarnido, lettered by Tom Orzechowski and Lois Athena Buhalis, and translated by Diana Schutz and Brandon KanderBlacksad: They All Fall Down, Part 2 picks up right where Part 1 left off. The story follows private investigator John Blacksad as he races to save his best friend, Weekly, from the electric chair. In Part 1, we learned that Weekly was framed by construction magnate Lewis Solomon, who’s now hired a hitman to deal out his own revenge.

Blacksad not only has to save Weekly, but take down the hitman before more people die at Solomon’s will. Without Weekly at his side and the cops following his every move, Blacksad has his work cut out for him… especially with the added distraction of his former fiancée Alma returning out of the blue.

Blacksad is such an international success that it’s now published in 28 different languages throughout the world,” said translator Schutz in a statement. “But it’s no secret that Spanish creators Juan Díaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido are especially involved in the Dark Horse edition of their work. Juan and Juanjo have created a quintessentially American hero, letting him—and his impeccable moral compass—loose in a 1950s noirish New York City, but remember that all of this is originally conceived and written in Spanish.

“So, Dark Horse’s English-language edition of Blacksad allows us to take better advantage of the creators’ love of mid-century Americana by playing to the authentic linguistic rhythms and idioms of the time period,” she continued. “Editor Jenny Bingham-Blenk and I are very fortunate to work directly with Juan and Juanjo on the series, and their dedication to all aspects of the Dark Horse edition just flat-out makes for a better book. The incredible support of our English-language readership along with the many Eisner and Harvey Awards that Blacksad has won are, I think, a testament to that.”

Blacksad: They All Fall Down, Part 2 will be available in hardcover wherever books are sold on November 5. It will arrive in comic book shops on November 6. Pre-orders are available now.
