Following the release of the official trailer in April, The Lion King star Beyoncé shared a new trailer for the film on her personal YouTube channel. In it, fans can hear her voice adult Nala for the first time, as her character encourages adult Simba (voiced by Donald Glover) to return to Pride Rock and claim his rightful place as king.
So far, most of the voice cast for The Lion King hasn’t been heard in trailers for the film. Beyoncé revealing her own voice work, on her own platform, is a move that shows not just how big she is as a star, but how big the reaction will be when the film hits theaters in July. Following the debut of the new trailer on Monday, fans flocked to social media to gush about the brief clip, which includes several scenes lifted straight from the 1995 animated Disney film.
Check out the new trailer below. The Lion King hits theaters July 19.
