This week the CW’s Batwoman star Ruby Rose (Orange Is the New Black) shared news that she had to undergo emergency surgery after a serious stunt injury left the actress with the possibility of paralysis.

Rose shared more details about the frightening incident on her Instagram page along with a graphic video of her in the hospital undergoing treatment. Her caption reads as follows:

“To everyone asking about my new Pez dispenser scar on my neck… A couple of months ago I was told I needed an emergency surgery or I was risking becoming paralyzed… I had herniated two discs doing stunts, and they were close to severing my spinal chord. I was in chronic pain and yet couldn’t feel my arms… Thank you Dr. Bray for everything you did and for allowing me to keep working and doing what I love. I am forever in your debt. And to anyone asking why I let them video it.. Did you not watch that Greys anatomy episode where they left a towel in a patient?? Also I wanted to see what happens when we go under.”

Check out the video below, but be warned: It is graphic in nature and some may find the images unsettling to watch.

This is not the first time the actress has had to deal with back troubles. Back in 2018, Rose was in a wheelchair after a spine issue. She shared in a tweet (which has since been deleted):

“So..For the past few years (decade) I’ve been dealing with a spine issue. I am now recovering from a back procedure, but I do need to stay active, so before I get seen with my cane and wheel chair in public, I’d rather put it out there that I’m fine and going to be fine.”

Batwoman starring Ruby Rose as the titular character was developed by Caroline Dries and Greg Berlanti from Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. The show is slated to premiere Sunday, October 6 at 8 pm EST on the CW.
