In an article posted on Deadline on Tuesday, July 27th, 2021, it was revealed that Winston Duke and Jason Isaacs would lead the cast of the upcoming Batman Unburied scripted podcast on Spotify.

Duke will star as Bruce Wayne, and Isaacs will play Alfred, his loyal butler. The series is executive produced by David S. Goyer and written by Eric Carrasco (Supergirl), Saladin Ahmed (Abbott: 1973), Rebecca Klingel (The Haunting of Hill House), and Graham Westerson (Stranger Things).

The series is directed by Alex Kemp with physical production by Wolf at the Door. The full list of executive producers includes Goyer, Keith Levine and Gracie Wheelan for Phantom Four, with Liz Gateley and Elena Blekhter for Spotify, and Peter Girardi and Shaleen Desai for Blue Ribbon Content.

The podcast will see Duke’s Wayne working as a forensic pathologist employed by the Gotham Hospital, charged with analyzing the remains left by The Harvester, a serial killer that has been murdering Gotham’s citizens.

Batman Unburied will give Duke the chance to cross over to Gotham City from the Marvel Universe. The actor plays M’Baku onscreen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame (no word yet on whether or not the character will appear in the Wakanda-set series heading to Disney+, but fingers crossed).

Batman Unburied
Isaacs will play Alfred.

Meanwhile, this is a return to voice acting in the DC Universe for Isaacs, who portrayed Kal-El the Soviet Superman in the animated adaptation of Red Son. However, Isaacs is no stranger to inter-dimensional shenanigans, having played Captain Lorca on Star Trek: Discovery.

Batman Unburied

The upcoming Batman Unburied podcast promises tons of twists, plus plenty of classic Batman supervillains. With the promise of a psychological thriller and a setup involving a serial killer, perhaps this podcast will emphasize the fact that Batman is indeed the World’s Greatest Detective.
