Bad Idea has launched a pre-order portal for fans to let their local shops know that they want Eniac #1, which is the publisher’s first comic.

That portal is online now, at whereisbadidea.com, and the way it works is pretty simple. Users go to the site, locate the Bad Idea destination shop nearest them, enter their info, and pre-order the publisher’s first book, which is by writer Matt Kindt and artist Doug Braithwaite. It’s super simple, and I’ve already done it myself.

The only real catch is that the book doesn’t have a release date anymore, on account of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic having upended the industry and forced Bad Idea to delay its launch. The publisher is, however, very much still planning to launch, and in fact in the press release announcing the new pre-order portal, they actually reiterated that they’ve stepped up production of comics during this crisis.

Here’s the relevant reiterating:

In addition to creating a retailer financial relief fund, every Bad Idea creator will actively be working during this period. We’re not slowing down – in fact, we’re ramping up.  As our creators continue to work as planned on Bad Idea’s initial slate of titles, the company is doubling its current workload by actively increasing development and production of new projects, and commencing work now that had originally been slated to begin in 2021. On every level, Bad Idea remains committed not only to comics, but the people who make and sell them too – which is why we’re making it easier than ever to keep in touch with Bad Idea’s robust retailer network of 100 exceptionally great Destination Stores in North America, Europe, and Australia.

Anyway, so that’s a nice something to look forward to. You can also find the publisher on its website as well as on social media via the links before, if (like me) you think Bad Idea is really kind of a cool idea…
