What’s interesting about the top sex related terms on Wikipedia is that they do not appear to have gratuitous intent. The top terms include very straightforward inquiries on human reproductive ‘parts’ and basic concepts of what sex is and how it is performed. It appears many people are learning about what sex is and how to have it by referencing Wikipedia.
Wikipedia’s primary subject stats aside, the pair’s paths cross in many more avenues of life.
For instance, anime is like sex with an unattractive yet uninhibited partner: Fun, but you dare not tell your mates about it.

Am I the only one that assumes that’s some really boring sex if you learned what is and how to have it on Wikipedia?
I doubt people are reading Wikipedia to “learn” about sex. They’re probably all teenage boys looking (or whatever) at the pictures of private parts.
i think there is some crossover in the Anime/Sex department.
Okay, so your theory is that it’s teenage boys wanting to oogle pictures of people’s naughty bits……and they go to Wikipedia for this???
Gotta say, yeah, way better places on the Internet to go if you’re just looking for smut. Wikipedia doesn’t really have that many pictures. If you’re reading wikipedia, it’s pretty much guaranteed that you’re doing so for the articles, because it’s nothing BUT articles.

What I want to know is what makes “General Research” so hot. What is it about this subject that Wikipedia users just cannot get enough of?

Last week, being bored, I looked up, in Wikipedia, the filthiest word in the English language. (Since this is a family blog, I won’t mention it, but it did appear in an issue of the Sandman, and in the Aristocrats.)
That entry had a list of other profane articles, one of which was a glossary of Japanese profanity. Which then linked to “Yuri”, which I had discovered at NYCC.
And, yes, I do read Wikipedia for the articles. Look up “Paradise, Nevada”. More people visit it than Las Vegas! Or see how many people live in Disneyworld. Talk about a gated community!
Looking up “facts” in Wikipedia, eh? Something sounds odd about that.
