The American LIbrary Association’s YOuth Media Awards were announced today at LibLearnX, and as usual many graphic novels were included. The complete list of winners and Honor Books is below; graphic novels are noted with a link and cover, as are books by comics-adjacent creators (I might have missed a few – it is a long list.)

The biggest graphic novel winner was Brownstone written by Samuel Teer and illustrated by Mar Julia which won the Printz Award for Excellence in Young Adult Literature; it’s the YA equivalent of the Newbery Award, although not quite as well known, and a big honor. The book, hich was published by Versify/HarperAlley is about a girl getting to know her father while they work on fixing up a building over a long summer.

Jes and Cin Wibowo’s Lunar Boy won the Stonewell Award for best LGBTQIA+ book; it’s also published by HarperAlley so a good year for them. Comics imprint Oni/LionForge and Maverick/Mad Cave also had honnor books, along with First Second, Graphic, and so on.
