While we’re out at Toy Fair, we’ll leave you with our annual Valentine’s Day image gallery! Let’s kick things off with the instant classic Cerebus Valentines for That Special Void in Your Life as whipped up by Chris Murphy, Laura Hudson and Caleb Goellner with some help from Douglas Wolk. But there’s lots more romance in the comics, oh yes. And maybe even a bit beyond…
I thought these faux “Lost” valentines were a hoot (to those of us who have kids and have to get those boxes of ridiculously worded valentines kids give each other that is) http://tv.gawker.com/5471119/is-your-valentine-a-lost-fan–send-them-one-of-these/gallery/
That “Young Romance” cover is awful (seriously, everyone has huge heads and look at that girl! She’s got a child’s body and a middle-aged woman’s head. Why does Tommy keep dating her, indeed?). Why did you put it in there twice?
2 times the pleasure.
Tug & Buster–nice! Whatever happened to Marc Hempel, anyway?
Man, great find with those Cerebus quotes!!! Awesome!
Nothing says ROMANCE like Dave Sim!
To my eyes, the first Secret Hearts cover is by Gene Colan, Young Romance looks like Jack Kirby. I would say Secret Hearts #42 is by Mike Sekowsky and inked by John Romita. There were some heavy hitters in Romance comics sometimes.
I wonder if Romantic Adventures is a Nick Cardy cover. Hmm, not entirely sure about that one.
It’s hard to find knowledgeable people on this topic, but you sound like you know what you’re talking about! Thanks
