Jennifer Hayden writes and draws her own comics as well as working as an illustrator, and her work appears both in webcomic form and in print. Her first full length book, UNDERWIRE, about her life experiences and family, is already out from Top Shelf, but she’s spent the past winter working relentlessly on a second graphic novel about her struggle with breast cancer. Her comics are autobiographical, capturing the carnivalesque aspects of daily life with her unique drawing and inking style. She’s often playful with panel construction and constantly comes up with new ornamental page layouts and flourishes. Her web series S’CRAPBOOK (featured above) is in its second series on the multimedia salon site TRIP CITY, and she also updates a weekly comics diary, RUSHES.
