If this MAD Magazine cover by the late, great Kelly Freas does not get you into the mood for Halloween, nothing will.
Freas (1922-2005) is known as the dean of science fiction artists with innumerable covers for Astounding Science Fiction, and was nominated for 20 Hugo Awards, winning 11.

Freas has long been one of my favorite artists. When I was old enough to understand that real people made those book cover pictures, Freas’ art was the stuff I loved. Thanks for posting this particular piece!
Don’t forget his Queen cover.
Kelly Freas was my mentor and teacher for years. In addition to be a terrific illustrator, he was a kind and generous man.
Don’t forget his Queen cover.
Here’s that famous work.
I have loved Kelly Freas’ art since kidhood, but somehow never saw this cover. Thanks for putting it up!
