The nominees for the Ignatz Awards, the festival prize awarded at SPX, have been announced.  It’s a pretty awesome list, as usual, heavy on very small press comics. The noms are chosen by a jury — this year’s were Lilli Carré, Vanessa Davis, Robert Kirby, Scott Mills and Laura Park. (Two of the jurors are also nominees, for the record.)

  1. Just so there’s no confusion, each of the Ignatz jurors operates independently and without knowing whom the other jurors are. Additionally, there are also rules against jurors nominating themselves. So while Lilli Carre and Vanessa Davis were nominated for awards, the other jurors did so without knowing that Carre or Davis were also sending in nominations. No funny business going on.
