Auction house Goldin closed its 2026 Spring TCG & Manga Elite Auction on May 17, offering a wide array of trading cards, video games, manga, and original artwork. There were several landmark Weekly Shonen Jump issues up for sale in this auction and a wide selection of rare trading cards, including Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Dragon Ball Fusion, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Weiss Schwarz.
Several items broke records; headlining the auction were a PSA 10 1998 Pokémon Japanese Promo Bronze 3rd Place Trophy Pikachu card, which sold for $1,769,000, setting a new record for the card’s highest public sale price. A 2024 One Piece Korean Serialized Top Prize Monkey D. Luffy (#001/077) in an original display box sold for $440,420, becoming the highest public sale for the card. Both of these cards are particularly rare because they are only attainable through playing in an official competition and are not in booster packs.
A PSA 9 1996 Pokémon Club Part 1 Charizard became the all-time highest public sale for any Pokémon Club card when it sold at $294,021, and a 2024 Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Paldean Fates SIR #232 Mew ex sold for $236,543, making it the highest public sale for a standalone Mew card.
There were also sales of factory-sealed booster boxes, including a 2005 Pokémon European EX Deoxys Booster Box for $158,600, a 1996 Pokémon Japanese Base Set Booster Box for $146,400, and a 2006 Pokémon EX Holon Phantoms Booster Box for $123,294, setting new records for the boxes. Classic Pokémon video games were also getting bids, with a sealed 2001 Nintendo Game Boy Color Pokémon Crystal Version selling for $47,600, and a sealed PSA 9.6 1998 Nintendo Game Boy Pokémon Blue Version selling for $10,377.
Unique TCG collector items were also up for auction, like a 1992 Magic: The Gathering Gamma Playtest Uncut Sheets Collection, signed by Wizards of the Coast founder, Peter Adkison, which sold for $305,000, and a 1993 Magic: The Gathering Beta Artist Proof Black Lotus, signed by illustrator, the late Christopher Rush, which sold for $111,837.
Goldin also gave manga fans plenty to bid on with the 1984 Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #51 featuring Goku’s debut in Dragon Ball, sold for $80,520 , the 1997 Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #34, Monkey D. Luffy’s introduction in One Piece, sold for $76,861 , and the 2018 Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #14 featuring the 1st chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, sold for $26,840.
