Earlier today, we mentioned that :01 (First Second Books) started serializing the Spillzone graphic novel as a webcomic. :01 likes to do that as a form of marketing, because webcomics sell as print collection. To that point, earlier today at io9, it was announced that :01 is going to be releasing a print edition of the Cucumber Quest webcomic by Gigi D.G.
Cucumber Quest goes back to 2011 and there are three print volumes available at the website, but :01 offers an entirely different level of distribution than most webcomics normally have access to.
The website describes it as “Cucumber Quest is a comic about bunny kids going on adventures and having fun,” but it’s probably more accurate to say that it’s a kids’ fantasy quest that sends up kids’ fantasy quests.
The collected edition is slated to drop in Fall 2017.
I remember when the first collection of this book crushed it on Kickstarter and Heidi threw a lot of shade at the creator. Always makes me laugh how the old Gen X people can’t understand the Millenials finding their own way.
I very much agree with your comments. Your article is great. It helps me to know many things that previously I did not pay any attention to.
