Embiggen
transitive verbinformal + humorous
That’s from the Merriam-Webster dictionary. Embiggen has been added, so now it’s a real word.
Depending on who you talk to, the term may have originated as slang in the 1800s, but in terms of common usage, it comes down to two things in the pop culture world: a joke in the Simpsons in 1996 and then in the comics (and later cartoons) as what Ms. Marvel cries when she enlarges herself (or her fist).
Alas, embiggen is no longer slang.
Ms. Marvel’s scribe and co-creator, G. Willow Wilson was a little startled by this turn of events.

Here is a true story: growing up, my parents didn’t let us watch much TV, so the first time I encountered the word “embiggen” was in reference to sizing JPEGs. Didn’t realize it was a Simpsons thing until years later.
