Zack Snyder’s follow-up to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice now has an actor behind the role of Steppenwolf, lieutenant/uncle of Darkseid, who will be the reason the League comes together in the forthcoming team-up film, Justice League.

The Wrap reports that Ciaran Hinds, who played “the King Beyond the Wall” Mance Rayder in HBO’s Game of Thrones (and LOTS of other great “hey, it’s that guy!” roles), will voice the computer generated bad guy who presumably made his first appearance in this deleted scene/Ultimate Cut of Batman v Superman:

Much like the Infinity Stones in the MCU, Justice League will have its own set of macguffins in three mother boxes that Steppenwolf is pursuing, as Producer Charles Roven explains:

“[Back] before there was a history … mankind, the Atlanteans — before they were under water — the Amazonians and, actually, the old gods, teamed together and decided that — based on an event that happened — these mother boxes were going to be placed in the care of, as I say, the Amazonians, mankind and the Atlanteans,” producer Charles Roven revealed. “So that allows us to get into some of those environments.”

Justice League will see release on November 17, 2017

  1. I still think that Steppewolf is a red herring and that Darkseid will be revealed as the big bad about halfway through the film. I also think Green Lantern is going to be in the film but that the filmmakers are keeping that (like Darkseid) a surprise after all the criticism they got for revealing Doomsday too soon in BvS.

    My two cents.
