Will POWERS be the next Walking Dead? FX has ordered a pilot for the long-optioned comic by Brian Michael Bendis and Micheal Avon Oeming about detectives who specialize in cases involving superpowered beings. The script is by Charles H. Eglee and Michael Dinner will direct — shooting begins in the spring.

The comic started out at Inage but is currently part of Marvel’s Icon line.

While several recent superhero TV shows have fared badly — The Cape was more of a capelet — Powers has the advantage of great characters — detectives Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim — set in a coherent world. It could just work out.

Another Bendis project, Alias, is currently being developed as AKA Jessica Jones for ABC.

  1. With the tv viewers love of procedural shows and Powers being a mix of procedural and superheros this has a chance to be a great show with a great following. And thankfully it, if picked up, will be on FX, who let their shows get a little heavy.

  2. I love POWERS the comic. As a loyal fan of FX AND Bendis I have to say Tahmoh Penikett 100% for Christian Walker or Friday Night Light’s Kyle Chandler. I am keeping my fingers crosses that they don’t cast Holt Mccallany as was rumored on another fan board. Ick.

Katee Sackoff would be a good Deena Pilgrim.
