It took a while to figure out how to tastefully word this, but the provocative superhero comic Sex is returning in April.

Most notably, the book will not be coming back as a monthly comic. Instead, the series will move to ongoing, original graphic novel format with the release of Sex, Vol. 6: World Hunger. The book, created by writer Joe Casey and artist Piotr Kowalski, first debuted in March 2013 and has subsequently released 34 issues. Sex is set in the fictional Saturn City, where it follows retired superhero Simon Cooke as he has all manner of adventures. Also, as implied by the title, characters hook up.

The new format comes in at 120 pages, which is roughly the same size as previous trade paperback volumes belonging to this series. The newest volume is set to go on sale April 24, retailing for $16.99. Sex is also not the first book from Image Comics to shift from monthly issues to ongoing graphic novel format, with Motor Crush set to make the same move soon once it returns from hiatus.

Image Comics is pleased to announce that the popular, provocative superhero series Sex by Joe Casey (Jesusfreak, MCMLXXV) and Piotr Kowalski has returned as an ongoing, original graphic novel series with Sex, Vol. 6: World Hunger hitting stores in trade paperback this April.

Typically, this leaves his beloved city vulnerable to all manner of desperate depravity. Fans won’t realize how much they’ve missed Sex until they indulge in this latest adventure.

Sex, Vol. 6: World Hunger (Diamond Code FEB190105, ISBN: 978-1534308770) will be available on Wednesday, April 24. The final order cutoff deadline for comics retailers is Monday, March 11. It will be available in bookstores on Tuesday, April 30 and can be pre-ordered now on Amazon, B&N, IndieBound, and Indigo. Fans can also subscribe to receive the series delivered by mail within the domestic U.S. on Image Direct.

Sex will also be available for purchase across many digital platforms, including the official Image Comics iOS app, Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play.
