While 105,000 people converged upon the New York Comic Con last week, some 150,000 booksellers, publishers, and bibiophiles packed the halls at the Frankfurt Book Fair, held October 12-16.

Here's the complete list of the winners, which were presented Saturday night at the Detroit Fanfare convention. The Shel Dorf Awards are presented to recognize "the comic industries best and brightest talents" and voted on by fans. The award recognize the contributions of Dorf, the co-founder of the San Diego Comic-Con and a Michigan native, in helping promote fandom and comics.

The Shel Dorf awards were given out this weekend at the Detroit Fanfare con, and while the complete winner list has not been posted anywhere we could find, we know we won for Best Comics Blogger! Woot! The competition was tough and to have prevailed is really humbling and gratifying. We don't know who exactly voted on these wards, but whoever did -- thank you so much.

2011 Ignatz Awards nominees announced
The nominees for the 2011 Ignatz awards have just been announced. The nominees represent the best of indie comics and were selected by a five person panel consisting of Rina Ayuyang, Mike Dawson, Kris Dresen, Theo Ellsworth, and John Porcellino. Winners will be selected by attendees of the Small Press Expo and presented at the gala Ignatz Awards ceremony held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 9:00 PM with host Dustin Harbin. Multiple nominees include Edie Fake, Michael DeForge, Sammy Harkham and Carol Tyler.

Tonight's Eisner Award ceremony will be a bit different: the con has hired a producer to help tighten up the show and keep things moving along. Previous Eisner Award ceremony, although a much loved comics tradition, have been, shall we say...lengthy. The new producer, who has a background in television and live events, is familiar with live awards shows and plays. According to con spokesman David Glanzer, there won't be monumental changes, but "by tightening things up, we'll see thigns run a littlr smoother, and hopefully help make it the event that people really do want to attend." Plans call for some trimming from the obituaries and other staging elements that will cut as much as a half hour from the show.
