Details on the release of WONDER WOMAN, a direct-to-DVD animated film, have been announced. The DVD hits stores March 3.

Produced by the multiple Emmy Award winning animation legend Bruce Timm, WONDER WOMAN is an origin story and features a stellar celebrity voice cast including Keri Russell (WAITRESS, FELICITY), Nathan Fillion (DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES), Alfred Molina (SPIDER-MAN 2), Virginia Madsen (SIDEWAYS), Rosario Dawson (SIN CITY), Oliver Platt (THE WEST WING) and David McCallum (NCIS).

The extras on the two-disc deluxe release include featurettes on the long-running mythology of Amazons and Wonder Woman, audio commentary by Timm, DC’s Gregory Noveck, director Lauren Montgomery and writer Michael Jelenic, as well as some of Timm’s favorite episodes of JLA. Sadly, there is no documentary on bondage, so somewhere WW creator William Moulton Marston is crying.

  1. Actually Heidi, there are THREE documentaries, one of which is “WONDER WOMAN: A Subversive Dream — She is one of the pillars of DC Comics. We examine why Wonder Woman is important in the grand scheme of the DC Super Heroes and how her raw strength and power helped define a new generation of empowered women, who realized that their gifts of intellect and strength were just as powerful as their male counterparts.”

I was interviewed for two of the three documentaries (as I have been for many other DC projects past, present, and future), and there were certainly questions about bondage and Marston’s unconventional polyamorous lifestyle. Whether my comments addressed the topics in a way the lawyers will allow, or if they even fit the edit of the piece, I don’t know.

But they were addressed, and with one of the world’s acknowledged experts on Wonder Woman.

    Best,
