Vertigo is back…and it’s already rushing back to press!
DC’s Vertigo relaunch hit shelves this week with the release of Bleeding Hearts #1 by Deniz Camp and Stipan Morian, and it is already going to a second printing due to strong demand and good reviews.
The second printing will be available on March 18th and feature the original cover art by Morian but with a different logo color. A Second Printing variant cover with a black and white version of Nick Dragotta’s variant will also be available.
Bleeding Hearts #1 got strong critical response here at The Beat, with Diego Higuera writing “Bleeding Hearts is disturbing, thoughtful, and strangely intimate. It is a horror comic that understands its monsters well enough to make them feel uncomfortably human, and god I can’t wait for more.”
According to the release, Bleeding Hearts is a zombie tale….with a twist:
In Bleeding Hearts, DC Vertigo returns to the kind of intimate, character-driven horror that defined some of its most memorable titles. The series follows two damaged souls bound by a shared trauma they cannot outrun, drawing them into a slow-burn descent where love, obsession, and monstrosity blur together. As their lives unravel, the story exposes the terrifying truths people hide behind their closest relationships, delivering a haunting, atmospheric debut that lingers long after the final page.
Bleeding Hearts is written by Deniz Camp, with art by Stipan Morian and colors by Matt Hollingsworth.
Other Vertigo (Or Re-Vertigo as we call it here at The Beat) titles arriving this month include the return of The Nice House by the Sea and upcoming End of Life by Kyle Starks, Steve Pugh, and Chris O’Halloran and The Peril of the Brutal Dark: An Ezra Cain Mystery by Chris Condon and Jacob Phillips. All in all, one of the most storied brands in comics history is off to a promising start it seems.
