Vault is about to stick another feather in its horror cap. The indie stalwart has announced Excommunicated from Jeremy Robinson and Tiago Palma. According to a press release from the production house, Excommunicated is steeped in religious horror, following a nun who has been excommunicated from the Church.

“My whole life, I’ve been what people call ‘steeped in the Bible.’ I’ve incorporated this knowledge into my novels the way I do other religions and mythologies, but I really wanted to use my recent discoveries regarding original translations of the Biblical texts that fundamentally change the game—specifically concerning the satan (yes, lowercase) and the strange beings known as Elohim,” Robinson says of the story. “Me being me, I wrote a story that is sinister, action-packed, and funny, but made even cooler by a supernatural backdrop far more interesting than what we’ve all been taught in Sunday school and by Hollywood.”
Written by Robinson and drawn by Palma, Excommunicated is colored by Manuel J. Rodriguez and lettered by Jim Campbell. Design and layout work for the series is provided by Vault’s Tim Daniel.
“After working with Tiago Palma, Manual Rodriguez, and Jim Campbell on other comics, I knew they were the dream team for Excommunicated and they delivered in spades, perfectly capturing the characters, Boston locations, demonic horrors, and…maybe a little gore,” Robinson adds. “The result is a book that I’m very proud of and super excited for people to read. It’s weird to be a fan of something I played a part in creating, but I am a fan of Sister Josephine and Edimmu!”
Though Robinson has written over 100 novels, some making the illustrious New York Times Bestseller list, Robinson is still new to the comics industry. In addition to a publishing pact with Vault, Robinson develops and self-publishes additional comics under his Breakneck Comics banner.
