Archie Jumbo Comics Digest #329
Here are the descriptions of the two new stories included in Archie Jumbo Comics Digest #329 from the official Archie Comics press release:
In “Poster Boy,” Archie tries to become a YouTube star by recording a series of “how to” tutorials. Each one turns out to be a disaster, forcing him to change his title from “how to” to “How NOT To!”
Then, in “Sounds Like Music,” The Archies are playing a big concert in the park, and even before they get on stage, everything that could go wrong does—including Archie not being able to play his guitar during the set! Fortunately, concert volunteer Grace steps in to help. She’s not a musician herself, just has a love of music and wants to hear as much as she can before she loses her hearing. Grace has Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2), a genetic disorder that can cause tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body. The Archies decide to give her the performance of a lifetime, in this very special story brought to you by Archie Comics in partnership with the Children’s Tumor Foundation.
“Sounds like Music” was inspired by the true story of Matt Hay. According to the press release:
“As a long-time music fan, I first learned that I would lose my hearing in college, so I set out to listen to all the music I could so I could keep it deep in my memory,” said Hay, who lives with NF2. “I was creating a soundtrack for a life I had not yet lived.” Matt was diagnosed in his early college years and eventually lost all hearing due to NF2.
If you want to read “Sounds Like Music” right now, you can do so on the CTF website, which also features several additional (non-Archie) comics about NF and related information.
Archie Jumbo Comics Digest #329 features scripts by Angelo DeCesare and Alex Simmons, art by Jeff Shultz, Bill Galvan, Jim Amash, Ben Galvan, Glenn Whitmore, and Jack Morelli, and a cover by Francis Bonnet, Shultz, and Rosario “Tito” Peña, the 192-page digest has a suggested retail of $8.99.
