Dark Horse Comics has announced Tomb Raider: Sacred Artifacts, a new series starring Lara Croft, written by Casey Gilly (Buffy the Last Vampire Slayer), with art by Antonio Di Caprio (KAYLA), colors by Eren Angiolini, and lettering by AndWorld Design. Beginning early next year, the four-part adventure will see Lara go on a worldwide hunt for a “dangerous and familiar artifact” a stranger has absconded with after Croft Manor is burned down and destroyed.

When Croft Manor goes up in flames, it forces Lara to take stock of her life and figure out what is important to her. But a confrontation with a mysterious foe who has gotten their hands on a dangerous and familiar artifact launches Lara into a cross-continental journey, doing what she does best: raiding tombs and questing for legendary relics.

Issue #1 will be released on January 14, 2026, with a main cover by Taurin Clarke. The comic marks the first for the Tomb Raider franchise since Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, and Phillip Sevy‘s Inferno, which was released to coincide with the last video game in the series, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, in 2018. Its arrival will help mark the 30th anniversary of Lara Croft’s debut in the original Tomb Raider game, which launched on the Sega Saturn on October 24, 1996.

In the meantime, you can read an exclusive preview at Freak Sugar, and preoccupy yourself with every other upcoming Tomb Raider release, including the second and final season of the animated Netflix series The Legend of Lara Croft (arriving December 11), and the second and third volumes of Dark Horse’s hardcover Colossal Edition, reprinting every prior Tomb Raider comic (respectively out on November 25, and April 28, 2026.)

(By the way, if you’re wondering about the next game in the franchise, or the Amazon Prime series created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and starring Sophie Turner, the former still hasn’t been revealed yet, while the latter will begin filming in January.)
