Paramount Pictures has released the very first trailer for the upcoming Terminator: Dark Fate, the latest attempt to reboot the Terminator franchise originated by James Cameron in 1984’s The Terminator.
The big selling point for the new movie, out November 1, is that Cameron is more involved as a producer AND it marks the return of Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor, who hasn’t been seen in the franchise since 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Dayalso directed by Cameron.

A lot of the footage in this teaser is very different from the footage shown at CinemaCon a few weeks back as it’s at least partially narrated by Natalia Reyes‘ Dani Ramos, a new character introduced for the reboot. We also get to see Mackenzie Davis‘ Grace in action, fighting against the latest Terminator, played by Gabriel Luna. And then Sarah Connor shows up, and she hasn’t lost a beat in the 28 years since we last saw her, as played by Hamilton, at least. (There was a popular show called Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles about ten years ago, and Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke played Connor in the tragically-bad 2015 reboot Terminator Genisys, directed by GoT‘s Alan Taylor.)
The footage is set to a cover of Björk’s “Hunter” by an unknown male singer, and there even is a glimpse of a bearded Arnold Schwarzenegger, which will certainly make people wonder whether he’s playing another Terminator.. and whether he’s an advanced cyborg that can grow a beard.
The movie is directed by Tim Miller, his first movie since directing Ryan Reynolds in 2016’s Deadpool.

Then let us know in the comments what you think about the latest attempt to revise a popular franchise that sadly has been diluted by a number of weak reboot attempts. UPDATE: In addition, Paramount has released a special featurette with James Cameron, which you can watch below the trailer.

  1. And, of course, Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey played Sarah Connor in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
