MUST READ: Jim Zub on how creator owned comics economics have improved
And when I say must-read, I mean MUST READ, as it really lays out fundamental changes in how the industry is working for creator owned books.. A few days ago I noted how an old post on the economics of Jim Zubkavich on Skullkickers, his Image comics, had gotten a second life on Facebook with it's very low numbers on comics profits. In the comment, Zub promised an update, and he's delivered with an analysis of his new book, Wayward. Review: The Best Laid Big Man Plans
Every so often comics get away from their high soaring superhero mythos to tell stories that kick you to the ground and shove your face in the mud. Big Man Plans is one of those books. David Lapham’s latest Sunshine and Roses remedies the missing gratuitous violence of Killers at the cost of diverting from that arc’s engaging plot. However, this is the most brutal and meaty the Stray Bullets series has been in awhile, and that speaks volumes for what you'll find in these pages.

Review: The Dying & The Dead Confounds and Amazes With Dense First Issue
eave it to a project helmed by Jonathan Hickman to be impeccably designed. The first issue of The Dying & The Dead brings together long-time collaborator Ryan Bodenheim as artist, colorist Michael Garland, and lettering duties by Rus Wooton for a whopping 60-page issue; and the sheer amount of information conveyed is akin to a freight train dropping from the sky at terminal velocity. In a good way, I assure you.
